Petri Aalto – Artist
I am Petri Aalto (b. 1971), an artist based in Helsinki. Art has always been a part of my life, but for the past five years, I have been fully dedicated to it. I want my works to be powerful, vibrant, and energetic—at times even aggressive and bold. I primarily use acrylic paints on canvas, but mixed media techniques also play a significant role in my artistic expression. The unifying elements in my work are intense energy and strong contrasts, both in colors and forms, creating pieces that evoke deep emotions and captivate the viewer.
My gallery and studio are located in the same space in central Helsinki, across two floors. The gallery features a continuous exhibition more than 100 of my artworks, offering a unique opportunity to experience my art in an authentic setting. More than just a gallery, it is a meeting place where visitors can engage in conversations about my work and the emotions it evokes. Guests also have the chance to step into my studio—the space where my paintings come to life. The studio showcases both finished and in-progress works, providing insight into my creative process.
Beyond painting, I have a deep passion for craftsmanship and building. I have restored and built several boats and have also designed and customized bicycles. My gallery displays around ten of my custom-built bicycles, which represent another facet of my creativity and hands-on craftsmanship.
Additionally, I have extensive experience in designing and constructing trade fair booths, event decorations, and stage sets. Building, repairing, and working with my hands have always been an integral part of my life.
